I find our agenda very relevant, as this region has been struggling with it for many years. I hope our delegates will think outside the box to come up with the most useful and extraordinary pieces of advice to deal with the problem. As this problem is relevant, a lot has been already done in the sphere, but still the region faces this problem, which means we still need to work on it.

Distinguished delegates!
As an expert, I welcome you to the most uncomfortable intersection in modern science: the gap between what we can do and what we should do. Somatic therapies already treat certain cancers — and that success makes the next question unavoidable. Heritable germline editing remains the line most of the world has agreed not to cross, and your task is to decide how it is defended and by what rules.
What I can offer is the factual and regulatory groundwork. The moral imagination — seeing the person behind the policy — must come from you. Let this committee be remembered not for what it blocked, but for what it built: governance that is cautious, equitable, and worthy of public trust.
