What is Model UN?

Model UN - is a fascinating combination of a simulation and an academic conference where delegates imitate the activity of the United Nations bodies and specialized agencies. Delegates assume the role of representatives of the UN member-states or affiliated organizations. They are to debate global issues which are addressed by world leaders and to draft resolutions aimed at resolving them.

Undergraduate and graduate students, high schoolers are welcome to engage into negotiations in Model UN committees.

During committee sessions delegates faithfully respect national interests of the country they've chosen to represent. It is strictly required that participants avoid expressing their personal opinion on the agenda. Debates are conducted in accordance with the rules of procedure adapted from actual UN rules, and conclude with the adoption (or rejection) of the final document - a resolution or a report that reflect the results of committee negotiations on the agenda.

Delegates gain valuable experience in collaboration and cooperative resolution of conflict, hone skills in diplomacy, negotiation, critical thinking and public speaking. Model UN is also a one-of-a-kind opportunity to meet the most talented people from around the world who share motivation and passion about the issues of global importance. Outside formal sessions, participants will be able to take part in cultural events where they can get to know each other better.

As a result, each delegate will benefit from participating in simulation. They will examine the issues of global concern, increase understanding of multilateral organizations, enhance ability to negotiate and compromise. By assuming the role of a diplomat, they will immerse themselves in a world of gripping debates and engaging activities.
