Dear Delegates!

I am glad to welcome you at the Moscow State University Model United Nations 2022.

As the President and on behalf of the Presidium, we welcome you at our UN Environmental Programme.

The importance of our agenda is no secret to all member states of the United Nations. We, as citizens of our countries, contribute to the environmental state of our planet. Earth has been tackling wars and armed conflicts it’s entire existence, forgetting about the consequences they bring for people, economies, and especially the environment. With the help of financial and humanitarian aid, countries are able to restore themselves. However, Earth’s environment is a more fragile and complex system, which depends on various instruments, one of which is the work of the United Nations Environmental Programme.

Being fortunate enough to discuss and attempt to solve such a crisis, we need to keep in mind that the consequences of armed conflicts in one country has an impact on the planet we all call - home! Being considerate and thoughtful of our words and actions will lead us to have fruitful debates in the United Nations Environmental Programme at the 2022 MSUMUN.

Wishing you the best of luck!

With kind regards,
President of the United Nations Environmental Programme,
Ekaterina Smyslenova

Distinguished delegates!

I am glad to welcome you to the MSUMUN 2022 on behalf of a Vice-President of the UNEP.

For five days we will plunge into the world of the United Nations that will allow us to discuss a debatable question of how much of a threat to the environment is posed by armed conflicts. It is frightening to still notice the devastating repercussions of armed conflicts all around the world. Acknowledging the fact that the UN aims to promote worldwide peace, security and sustainable development, it is essential for us to immediately take action on this unsolved issue.

I encourage you to take part in our Committee even if you have never participated in the MSUMUN before. It is an amazing opportunity to learn more about diplomacy and international relations and to develop your speaking and debating skills. But most importantly, the MSUMUN will give you an unforgettable experience and will introduce you to incredible people.

I am looking forward to working with you!

Sincerely,
UNEP Vice-President,
Vasilisa Galskova

Dear delegates,

I am really glad to meet you on such a fantastic page of the fabulous committee — United Nations Environment Programme — as an Expert of this UN body.

This year we are to analyze such a crucial and underestimated agenda — Elimination of devastating environmental
consequences of armed conflicts.

Unfortunately, this agenda is being forgotten frequently and more and more people think about economic, social, political consequences of wars ignoring the environmental issue. So, MSUMUN’s mission is to help the world to develop and I sincerely hope to see you, ambitious and environmentally-caring delegates to improve the current issue.

Yours sincerely,
UNEP Expert,
Radzhabova Samira
