Dear delegates,

It is a privilege for me to be a part of MSUMUN ECOSOC as the President and welcome you to the Model.

Sahel. How can one word be able to awake so many emotions at the same time? This truly unique region filled with natural resources, wildlife and unexplored areas has proven to be a crucial platform for the international dialogue. The fate of the Sahel is shaped by the Global Community. The Sustainable Development being one of the pressing issues, it is essential to take into account such an important region and act accordingly.

In this race against time it up to every single one of us - you, honourable delegates, me and global community - to make a change that would differ from our current impact on the nature. We encourage you to study the subject thoroughly and be open to this exciting region.

The Presidium of ECOSOC can assure you that the five days that we spend working together are going to be a memorable and amazing experience for all of you. Looking forward to seeing you!

Embrace new ideas. Be active. Be brave. Be the best.

Sincerely yours,
ECOSOC President,

Esteemed Delegates!

On the behalf of an Expert of the Economic and Social Council at the MSUMUN 2022, I am honored to welcome you to participate in the joint work of our committee.

This year we are devoting ourselves to addressing the challenges of one of the most insecure and fragile regions of the African continent. Over the past few years, the Sahel has experienced growing environmental, socioeconomic and political turbulence. As a result, miilions of people are exposed to severe implications of harsh climate conditions, extreme destitution and cyclic unemployment. Efforts of international organizations and special regional associations are focused on mitigating crises and embarking states on the path of inclusive and sustainable development. This is your opportunity to contribute substantially to prosperous and peaceful Africa.

As a delegate, you will speak on the matter from the position of an official country spokesperson, that is why I highly recommend you to wear your best suit and imagine yourself as a real diplomat. During the sessions you will learn how to cooperate with your strategic partners, form friendly alliances and negotiate on contradictory viewpoints.

In turn, I will be gladly assisting you at all stages of the meeting, from representing a position of a country to drafting your final document in all rules. I am looking forward to collaborating with you in a fruitful, constructive manner and I am hoping to make your model experience unforgettable.

Best regards,
Economic and Social Council Expert,
Ekaterina Dorykina
